Muse Machine

The Muse Machine creates opportunities for students to experience a varied and exciting sampling of many art forms, from dance to opera to theatre to visual arts. Today, the Muse Machine is proud to present two world-class musicians, Michael and Sandy Bashaw.

Home to inventors and innovation, Dayton is also home to the Bashaws, creators of original and innovative music and art. From jazz and rock to ethnic and world music, they play new music that is both original and familiar. Michael plays flutes, harmonica, whistles, vocals, kalimbas, balafons, and exotic handmade instruments. Sandy plays guitar, percussion, and has a beautiful singing voice. They have recorded several cd’s and have played all over the US and in Europe.

They brought several suitcases full of percussion instruments, so don’t be shy if they ask you to join them on stage to play along…

Michael and Sandy had lots of fun activities and music for us to play during their stay at our school. We enjoyed them and welcome them back anytime.

THE DEBATE

Our social studies teacher of Dayton Technology Design High School Kenneth Kramer, spoke on the debate saying it was good to see his students up on stage presenting some of the thoughts about both candidates, Barack and McCain. He plans on doing it again. The next time he wishes to have more time and students participate. The next time Mr. Kramer plans on preparing the students more mentally and physically. He wants the students to get the feeling of a real debate and how it runs. Overall it was a great experience that we have to look back and dwell on.

I had a chance to talk to some of the students and teachers after the debate and most of them seemed to like it. Although it was more of the students telling what the views were of Barack and McCain. After talking to the students I recieved some good and bad feedback.

Some of the students told me the debate was: Boring, exciting, a waste of breathe, some kids didn’t know what they were talking about, the best debate they had ever encountered, and it was fun to see some of the fellow class mates get up there with no fear to talk in front of the rest of the student body.
